The Irish Times - Monday, October 18, 1999

Gaels force wins
Neasden Gaels created a bit of history at Ruislip yesterday by winning the London championship in only their third year competing in the premier grade.

Taking the field as outsiders against established Round Towers, Neasden Gaels always maintained their composure with their best passage coming in the second half when playing against a strong breeze. Round Towers were kept in the game through the accurate free-taking of centre forward Shane O'Sullivan, scorer of all but three points of his side's total. But overall their attack was guilty of poor finishing.

Neasden Gaels owed much to a solid defence and in particular to full back Mick Kennefick who repeatedly cleared his lines under pressure. While midfielder Eddie Walsh was well below his best he redeemed himself with a well struck penalty midway through the second half.

Man-of-the-match Marcus O'Sullivan, along with Timmy Corkery and Kieran Macken, made the most of their limited scoring opportunities.
